For over 25 years Dr. Geoff Rankin has been practicing in the field of canine and equine neuromusculoskeletal medicine. His work has applied acupuncture, skeletal manipulation, soft tissue techniques and conventional medicine to pain, pathology and dysfunction of the neuromusculoskeletal system that affect the lives of our animal companions. This led him to develop an improved and effective pharmaceutical solution for certain joint disease and pain of musculoskeletal origin. His work identified the importance of glucosamine and its synergy with a complex of co-factors, including chondroitin sulphate and specific chelated minerals, amino acids and vitamins.
The goal was to optimise a formulation that would provide the best joint care for his patients. Dr Rankin’s approach has been to focus on the use of pharmaceutical grade fine chemicals in a formulation to meet the new regulatory standards that now apply to joint management products. To introduce product into the profession he has formed a new company – Myactin Micronutrition, a division of Rantech Laboratories Pty Ltd.
"There have been other joint care products out there, but my colleagues and I felt we needed a more targeted, clinically designed formulation to solve the complex issues of joint management, especially for long term use. We identified technology that would improve gut absorption of ingredients therefore delivering fast relief.
The final formulation is based upon glucosamine and its synergy with chondroitin sulphate, chelated and inorganic minerals, vitamin B6 and E, an organic sulphur compound and amino acids dl-methionine and lysine. These fine chemical ingredients in Flex are designed to assist and to up-regulate the natural recovery process of musculoskeletal impairment. It is pleasing to now have Flex on the market and we will continue to search for further improvements in joint and musculoskeletal pain management."
